Description
Les Barricades Mystérieuses is a delightful piece arranged for intermediate string quartet or string orchestra, based on the original setting for harpsichord.
Source: Second livre de pièces de clavecin, sixième ordre.
With its characteristic style brisé and its appealing name, this is one of the most well known pieces from the french composer.
It is possible to play the whole piece entirely on pizzicati, producing a sound which is close to the original harpsichord setting. If is played that way, the ornaments should be omitted.
